Dr. Yu Li
R&D Associate, Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST)
Dr. Yu Li is working at the Remote Sensing and Natural Resources Modelling (REMOTE) group of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). He is enthusiastic in using machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques to extract essential information from Earth Observation (EO) data to improve environmental monitoring and disaster response. At LIST he primarily focuses on the development of ML/DL methods for a number of EO applications, including natural disaster (e.g., flooding) mapping, urban sprawl monitoring, and geophysical parameter (e.g., soil moisture) retrieval.
Before joining LIST, Yu conducted his Ph.D. at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Munich, Germany on the topic of ML/DL methods development for flood mapping in urban and rural areas with multi-temporal Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in physical geography from LMU Munich in 2020.
