VP of Analytics, ICEYE
Dr. Shay Strong began her professional career in Astrophysics looking out at space from Earth. She received her Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin studying gas giant planet climatology and developing space-based infrared spectrometers. She then evolved to looking out to space through the Earth's limb at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where she helped develop defense spacecraft designed to alert against incoming ballistic missile threats. She finally transitioned to looking down at the Earth from space, as the Chief Data Scientist at a DC-based startup, OmniEarth. There, she led her team to create a deep learning pipeline for water resource management and prediction in the US using satellite imagery. After a successful startup acquisition and migration to a larger Seattle-based company, EagleView, she focused on scaling deep learning geospatial pipelines for petabytes of satellite and aerial imagery processing for insurance and government applications. She is now the VP of Analytics at ICEYE in Finland, where she leads her team to develop comprehensive analytics solutions that leverage high-resolution SAR imagery.
