Head of Competitions & Events, AZO – Space of Innovation
Kathrin Lenvain brings in 7 years of expertise in Galileo as well as in managing and coordinating innovation competitions in the space sector. She started in the Satellite Navigation domain managing the European Satellite Navigation Competition that is focussed on the commercial exploitation and market uptake of Europe’s space programme Galileo. Kathrin highly worked on the internationalisation of the competition and worked together with more than 20 countries and regions that represent innovative space hubs in Europe. Together they form an ecosystem of about 140 space stakeholders and represent Europe’s largest innovation network in satellite navigation.
From 2011-2015 Kathrin coordinated the Galileo-EGNOS Prize award scheme, an EU funded initiative to support GNSS related business ideas into the market. She also developed and set up the current follow up project – the E-GNSS Accelerator – that aims to support 100 start-ups using Galileo to market entry from 2017 – 2019. Now she is responsible for coordination the AZO Masters series that consists of the European Satellite Navigation Competition, the Copernicus Masters, the Space Exploration Masters, and the INNOspace Masters.
In addition, she has 7 year experience in organisation space events. Among them the festive Space Oscars honouring the best ESNC and Copernicus Masters winners. The event already took place in Munich, Berlin, Madrid and Tallinn in line with AZO’s own Satellite Masters Conference and Europe’s major space conferences such as the European Space Solutions, H2020 Info Days and the European Space Week.
