Serial entrepreneur & Co-founder, The Last Mile (TLM)

Beverly Parenti is a serial entrepreneur, specializing in the advancement of innovative technologies. Beverly was a founding member of First Virtual, the first online payment platform with an IPO in 1996. She has been an investor and adviser to many entrepreneurs and CEOs. Beverly’s professional experience includes digital media, online payment solutions, e-commerce, financial services, advertising, tech incubators, and consumer products. She enjoys being a mentor to aspiring women entrepreneurs and is a proud silver medal recipient of the 2016 Jefferson Award. Other awards include the Lynn Ingham Community Service Award, San Quentin News Excellence in Leadership Award, and CalPIA’s Community Partnership Award for providing Second Chances for California’s reformed workforce. Speaking engagements include: TedX, Stanford, Dartmouth, University of Michigan, EOC Annual Conference, SXSW, Unreasonable Institute, The White House, NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center, and Shift Media.

Beverly Parenti and Chris Redlitz, launched their nonprofit, The Last Mile (TLM) in 2010 at San Quentin State Prison. The goal of TLM is to provide education and training inside prison, resulting in gainful employment for returned citizen graduates, thereby reducing recidivism. TLM has become one of the most requested prison education programs in the United States. It is the first program to offer a computer programming curriculum that teaches men and women to become software engineers. TLM is in 23 classrooms inside California, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Michigan, North Dakota and Montana correctional facilities for men and women. All TLM “Returned Citizen Graduates” are prospering personally and professionally with 0% recidivism.
