Assaf Topaz

Horizon 2020 Expert and Jury Member for the European Innovation Council (EIC)-SME, European Commission

Mr. Topaz is an active private investor and entrepreneur. He is also acting as a professional consultant and is currently involved in several Tech startups and later stage Hi Tech companies. 
Mr. Topaz also serves as an Expert and Jury Member for the European Innovation Council (EIC)-SME, which is part of the European Commission Horizon 2020 initiative.
In his former position, between 2010 to 2012, Mr. Topaz served as Vice President of Discount Investment Corporation of the IDB group. In this capacity he was responsible for new investments in clean-tech and high tech companies. He represented the IDB group on several board of directors, including Cellcom (NYSE: CEL), Aternity Software, Atlantium and others.
From June 2005 to May 2009 Mr. Topaz served as Vice President and earlier (from March 2004 to June 2005), as business development manager of Elron Electronic Industries Ltd. In this capacity he led new investments and served on the boards of Israeli high–tech startups.
From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Topaz has served as co-founder, Chief Operating Officer and as Member of the Board of Directors of Breach Security (formerly known as Gilian Technologies). 
Mr. Topaz holds a B.A. in Economics and Geography from the Hebrew University and a Master of Science in Management degree from Stanford University.
Assaf is married to Michal Topaz and they have 3 kids.
He lives in Luxembourg since August 2012 and he is an Israeli and German citizen.
Assaf is an art lover, an experienced photographer and an avid trail runner.
