Forward-thinking and sustainable technology with electric performance cars Polestar

Indoor testdrives with premium electric cars

The disruptive electric car brand Polestar will propose an innovative experience of indoor testdrives at ICT Spring this year. This ideal opportunity to get to know electric mobility and experience the unique experience of indoor driving will take place on June 30 and July 1 2022 at LuxExpo.

The Swedish premium electric performance car company is a real challenger of the automotive sector, focusing on sustainability and technology to drive greater circularity without compromising on design and powerful performance. The Polestar 2, available for indoor testdrives at ICT Spring, is the company’s first fully electric fastback and includes three variants with a combination of long- and standard range batteries. As of 2022 Polestar plans to launch one new electric vehicle per year, starting with Polestar 3 – the company’s first electric performance SUV.

Its distribution model disrupts the traditional automotive retail model: a fully digital retail experience allows customers to do everything online, while Polestar Destinations allow customers to experience the cars first-hand. Luxemburg’s Destination, located at La Cloche d’Or, is one of those hassle-free environments designed to take the pressure off customers. It is staffed by non-commissioned product Specialists, ensuring that customers get objective advice that’s not driven by commissions.

The road to 0

With the Polestar 0 project and its goal to being carbon neutral by 2030 without compensation, Polestar has made no secret of its desire to become the greenest car brand in the world. At the end of 2020, CEO Thomas Ingenlath made an industry-wide plea for more transparency: “We want an industry measure that reflects the amount of carbon created over the entire life cycle of an electric car.”

The company is playing a pioneering role on that front today. Polestar communicated the total environmental impact of the new Polestar 2 in 2021 by openly sharing the results of the vehicle’s Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) with the outside world. Also, in just one year, thanks to improved efficiency and the use of renewable energy, Polestar has managed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per car sold by six percent, bringing us one step closer to the goal of halving carbon emissions per car sold between 2020 and 2030.

Technology for the better

While minimalist design, outstanding performance and sustainability are one of Polestar’s main arguments, technology is also one of its focal points. The Polestar 2 is the first car to feature an HMI/infotainment system powered by Android, also known as Android Automotive OS. It includes Google Assistant, which understands user requests in different languages, Google Maps, with real-time and up-to-date information and the Google Play Store, with a full range of apps optimized for in-car use. To ensure regular updates and hassle-free software enhancements, Polestar fully embraces the connected nature of the Polestar 2 via the implementation of OTA (Over-the-Air) updates. Polestar also recently partnered with StoreDot to deliver advanced EV battery technology capable of charging up to 160km of range in just five minutes by 2024.
